Advanced Interaction Tracking
Custom-built solutions for tracking more complex user actions that standard measurement can’t capture.

MEASUREMENT AND TECHNICAL ANALYTICS
Advanced tracking in business
In business terms, the goal of advanced tracking is to detect technical or logical obstacles in the system and direct resources toward what actually creates value.
- Optimizing the checkout funnel: Instead of just learning that sales are dropping, advanced tracking pinpoints the exact critical point. If users are abandoning their cart en masse at the card-details step, the system flags it clearly, enabling a quick fix to that specific step.
- Improving the product and its features: By tracking how users interact with an app or website (e.g. using search filters, reading instructions), it becomes clear which features are useful and which are completely ignored. That focuses the development team exclusively on improving the features users actually need.
- Lower support costs and faster bug detection: Systems can spot patterns of frustration, like repeatedly clicking a button that doesn’t work (so-called "rage clicks"). Technical bugs are identified and fixed long before frustrated users start flooding customer support with calls.
Advanced tracking in marketing and user experience
In marketing, precise data enables hyper-personalization and smarter budget allocation.
- Tracking micro-conversions: The final purchase isn’t the only thing that matters. Advanced tracking records smaller but meaningful steps: who watched a promo video for more than 30 seconds, who downloaded a PDF catalog, who copied an email address, or who scrolled all the way to the bottom of an article. That data reveals genuine audience interest.
- Precise retargeting: Instead of showing the same ad to everyone who visited the site, you can build a specific audience. A free-shipping ad can be shown exclusively to people who added a product over €100 to their cart but closed the page at the shipping-selection step.
- Understanding user intent: Analyzing what users type into a site’s own search bar, plus their interactions with navigation menus, precisely reveals what the market is currently looking for. That insight can be used to adjust the homepage offer or create new content.
Standard technologies and tools for advanced tracking
Implementing this level of analytics relies on more advanced protocols and tools:
- Data Layer and Google Tag Manager (GTM): The Data Layer is an invisible layer of code on the website that automatically collects complex data (like cart value, product name, currency). GTM picks up that data and forwards it to analytics and marketing tools without changing the site’s underlying code.
- Server-side tracking and the Conversions API: Traditional tracking relies on browsers (so-called cookies), which tools like ad blockers often block. Server-side tracking sends data directly from the website’s server to the analytics server (e.g. Meta CAPI). That ensures maximum accuracy, site speed, and compliance with privacy rules (GDPR).
- Event-based analytics (e.g. GA4, Mixpanel, Amplitude): Next-generation tools that no longer measure "page views" but every individual event (a click, a swipe, a video play, an item added to a wishlist). They let you visualize a user’s entire "journey" through the platform.
- E-commerce tracking: A specialized set of events within GA4 or GTM that tracks a product’s entire lifecycle on the site – from the moment it’s merely viewed in a listing, through clicking for details, adding to cart, all the way to a refund.
